    Hi,
I have a doubt in this in service allocation system. The person who got 92nd rank, appointed as IAS under SC category , but as per the 2017 quota wise allocation provided the no. of 93 candidates to General category for IAS. So, why the person who scored 92nd Rank
(Mr. SANGH PRIY) is appointed as IAS in SC category instead of GENERAL category

Hi, If the benefits of reservation are used anytime during the exam process, then that candidate will be allocated only under Reservation Category, even if the candidate score high marks.

      The benefits of reservation include

      (1) Age Relaxation.
      (2) Relaxation in the number of attempts allowed.
      (3) (Usually) Lower cut-off marks for Prelims, Mains, and Final Rank-List.

But in this case, he is being alloted IAS in SC*** category , not in General category (which generally it has to be), but the thing he is top rank holder (within 100) and the total general category for the IAS is 93 no’s.

General category people don’t have any kind of reservation. The seats achieved by general category are from merit reserved seats for which all categories are eligible. So moral of the story is reservation system sucks in India.

@Rhea @Priya – Allocation is not done in the following cases –
    (1) Certificate of graduation not submitted.
    (2) Certificate of reservation not submitted.
    (3) Medical Issues
    (4) Awaiting Appeals/Court Cases etc.

However, many of the remaining candidates will be allocated in the next round, if they are found eligible. This is only the first round of allocation.

sir I need your help !! I saw vacancy 0 for ST category in Indian foreign service ….what will happen if I have given my first preference as IFS ? How did they calculate these vacancies? I think percentages of distribution comes from 55 % 27% 11% n 7% …. correct me Iam wrong .: look into IFS allocations
    oc: 25 ; obc: 13 ; sc: 7 ; ST: 0 but according to %wise it should be 25 ; 12; 5 ;3 ….Am belong to ST category I prefer to foreign service ☝️ What should I do now ?

Hi Satish, don’t worry – try to secure selection in open merit. 50% of all seats are General Merit. Everyone including General Category, OBC, SC, and ST – if qualified with high marks will get selection in General Merit Quota. 50% of the remaining seats are under reservation. As they are reserved, it’s not based on merit. However, ST vacancies will appear for IFS in reservation category as well, in coming years.

Our advice would be to score high marks and secure selection in General Merit Quota.
