Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022. If your dream is Civil Services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc it’s time to read the UPSC Notification 2022 and apply.
UPSC has published the exam notification for Civil Services Preliminary Exam (CSE) 2022. Aspirants who wish to join services like IAS, IPS, IFS, etc can apply online from now.
The UPSC CSE Preliminary Exam will be conducted on June 05, 2022 (Sunday). The number of reported vacancies for Civil Services this year (1011) is a lot more than last year (712).
You can apply for the Civil Services Examination and Indian Forest Service Examination from 02-02-2022 until 22-02-2022.
How to apply for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2022?
Candidates are required to apply to UPSC online by using the website https://www.upsconline.nic.in.
Candidates will be required to complete the Online Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available on the above-mentioned site.
When is the last date to apply for the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022?
The last date to apply for the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 is February 22, 2022.
The Online applications for Preliminary Examination (Part I and II) can be filled from 02 February 2022 to 22 February 2022 till 18:00 Hrs.
Fees: Rs.100 for General/OBC (Male); No fee for female candidates
The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only).
SC/ST/ Female/Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from payment of the fee.
The fees can be paid either by depositing the money in any branch of State Bank of India by cash, or by using the net banking facility of State Bank of India, or by using any Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/ Debit Card.
Upper Age Limit: 32 for General; 35 for OBC; 37 for SC/ST
If your age limit is between 21-32 years (General Category) as of August 1, 2022, you can apply for the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2022.
The upper age limit for OBC candidates is 35 years, while that of SC/ST candidates is 37 years.

Note: The Commission takes up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for the Interview/Personality Test.
Candidates seeking reservation benefits need certificates to prove eligibility
Candidates who belong to the reservation category will get certain benefits with respect to relaxation in the number of attempts and upper age. Usually, the cut-off marks to get selection is also low when compared to the selection in general merit.
Candidates seeking reservation/relaxation benefits available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-servicemen must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation/relaxation as per eligibility prescribed in the Rules/Notice.
They should also be in possession of all the requisite certificates in the prescribed format in support of their claim as stipulated in the Rules/Notice for such benefits.
The OBC candidates applying for CSE-2022 must produce OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate based on the income for the Financial Year (FY) 2020-2021, 2019-20, and 2018-19.
Candidates should note that certificates should be dated earlier than the due date (closing date) of the application of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2022, ie February 22, 2022.
You need to upload a photo, Signature, and Photo ID card
Before starting filling up Online Application, a candidate must have his photograph and signature duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB in size for the photograph and signature.
Candidate should have details of one Photo ID Card viz. Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. The details of this Photo ID Card will have to be provided by the candidate while filling up the online application form. The candidates will have to upload a scanned copy of the Photo ID whose details have been provided in the online application by him/her. This Photo ID Card will be used for all future referencing and the candidate is advised to carry this Photo ID Card while appearing for the Examination/Personality Test.

UPSC Syllabus – Civil Services Preliminary Exam
The Civil Services Preliminary exam comprises two compulsory papers of 200 marks each (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper-II). The questions will be of multiple-choice, objective type. The marks in prelims will not be counted for final ranking, but just for qualification for the main exam.
The Commission will draw a list of candidates to be qualified for Civil Service (Main) Examination based on the criterion of minimum qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies PaperII of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as may be determined by the Commission.
UPSC syllabus for paper I – (200 marks) duration: two hours (counted for the merit rank in the prelims)
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.
- General Science.

UPSC Notification 2022: Whether there will be an optional paper for Mains 2022?
Yes, there is.
There is no change in the UPSC CSE Main Exam format – 4 GS Papers, 1 Essay Paper, and 2 Optional Papers from one optional subject.
Indian Forest Service Exam 2022 Notification
A separate notification for Indian Forest Service Exam (IFoS) 2022 is also released by UPSC. The Preliminary Exam for both CSE and IFoS is common while the Main Exam and Interview will be conducted separately. The total number of vacancies for IFoS is 151.

1011 Vacancies for CSE; 151 Vacancies for IFoS
This year, there is a great increase in the number of vacancies for both CSE as well as IFoS.
Initially, there were 861 reported vacancies for Civil Services. However, later 150 vacancies were additionally created for the newly introduced service – Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), changing the total tally to 1011. The number of vacancies to be filled by the UPSC IFoS exam is 151.
In comparison, last year, the number of vacancies to be filled on the result of the UPSC CSE 2021 was only 712. It was only 110 with respect to UPSC IFoS.
Note: The vacancies can increase, once additional data becomes available in the coming months.
What if you submit multiple applications?
- Applicants should avoid submitting multiple applications. However, if due to any unavoidable circumstances, any applicant submits multiple applications then he/she must ensure that the applications with higher RID are complete in all respects.
- In the case of multiple applications, the applications with higher RID shall be entertained by the Commission, and the fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID.
Ensure that you give a valid Email ID
- The applicants must ensure that while filling their Application Form, they are providing their valid and active E-mail IDs as the Commission may use an electronic mode of communication while contacting them at different stages of the examination process.
- The applicants are advised to check their emails at regular intervals and ensure that the email addresses ending with @ nic.in are directed to their inbox folder and not to the SPAM folder or any other folder.
Don’t wait for the last date; apply early!
Candidates are strongly advised to apply online well in time without waiting for the last date for submission of Online Applications.
