Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified on its website that the revised date of Civil Services Preliminary Exam will be announced on June 05, 2020.
The Commission did not mention any specific date for UPSC CSE 2020 Prelims as the COVID19 lockdown is still going on in the country. However, this extension means that IAS/IPS aspirants will get a lot more time to prepare well.
Revised Date of UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 to be notified on June 05, 2020
UPSC has stated that the revised dates of exams – which includes the date of Civil Services Preliminary Exam – will be uploaded on the website on 05-06-2020.
Original Date of UPSC CSE Prelims 2020: May 31, 2020
UPSC has postponed the Civil Services Preliminary Exam for 2020 from its original date of May 31, 2020 due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. This was notified in a press release on May 4 2020,
UPSC, on the same date, had stated on the website that the fresh date of UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 will be announced on May 20, 2020.
However, on May 20, 2020, after assessing the situation the Commission took a stand that the fresh dates may be announced only on June 05, 2020.
When will UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 be conducted?
UPSC had already assured all candidates that when dates are decided for the postponed exams, it will be ensured that the candidates are given a notice of at least 30 days.
By that guarantee, the revised date of Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2020 will only be after July 05, 2020.
As the Coronaviruses cases in India are still increasing, there is a probability that UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 be shifted to July end or August 2020.
The whole nation is waiting for the Corona cases to come down
The government has taken many steps including extended lockdown to flatten the curve.
Still, the number of cases is increasing, even though the pace of increase is less when compared to many developed countries.
Hopefully, after a few more weeks, the cases may show a decreasing trend.
Once cases come down, and lockdown restrictions are relaxed, UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 will be conducted.
Aspirants are advised to stay focused
Don’t heed to rumours that UPSC CSE 2020 will be cancelled.
This is not true.
Even the government itself has clarified that such news is fake.
UPSC CSE 2020 is delayed, however, it will be conducted for sure when the situation improves.
Then, aspirants who utilised their time effectively will come out as the real winners.
