UPSC Results 2023: Civil Services Examination final results are out. Aditya Srivastava from IIT Kanpur tops the exam. Read to know more.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination for 2023.
A total of 1016 candidates have been recommended for various elite government services.
The final selection is after a rigorous exam process, which includes a written exam in September 2023 and subsequent personality interviews from January to April 2024.

Allocation Across Services
The successful candidates are slated for appointment into several prestigious cadres:
- Indian Administrative Service (IAS): 180 vacancies
- Indian Foreign Service (IFS): 37 vacancies
- Indian Police Service (IPS): 200 vacancies
- Central Services Group ‘A’: 613 vacancies
- Group ‘B’ Services: 113 vacancies
In total, including 37 positions reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), there are 1143 vacancies. These appointments are subject to the rules outlined in the Civil Services Examination Rules 2023.
Breakdown of Candidates Recommended
The recommended candidates are categorized as follows:
- General: 347 candidates, including some with disabilities
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 115 candidates
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 303 candidates
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 165 candidates
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 86 candidates
Out of the total 1016 recommended candidates, there are specific slots reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, detailed as follows:
- PwBD-1: 16 candidates
- PwBD-2: 6 candidates
- PwBD-3: 5 candidates
- PwBD-5: 3 candidates

Reserve List and Provisional Candidature
Following Rule 20 (4) & (5) of the examination rules, UPSC has also maintained a consolidated reserve list totalling 240 candidates, spread across various categories including General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities.
Furthermore, the commission has kept the candidature of 355 recommended candidates provisional, pending further verification of their eligibility and other necessary criteria.
Further Information and Next Steps
Candidates seeking more information or any clarifications can visit the UPSC’s Facilitation Counter near the Examination Hall on the UPSC campus, available on working days from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours. Information can also be sought via telephone. Detailed results and the marks of the candidates will be available on the UPSC website within 15 days of the declaration of the results.
