There is a big increase in the number of vacancies under the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022.
This year 1011 vacancies will be filled through UPSC CSE.

UPSC Exam Pattern for Prelims
The Civil Services Preliminary exam comprises two compulsory papers of 200 marks each (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper-II).
The questions will be of multiple-choice, objective type.
The marks in prelims will not be counted for final ranking, but just for qualification for the main exam.
Again, General Studies Paper-II (CSAT) in Prelims is just qualifying in nature. You just need 33% marks in the CSAT paper to qualify. What matters the most is the marks you secure in General Studies Paper I.
UPSC Prelims 2022 Date: Be in the top 2% of candidates!
Only the top 2% of aspirants clear the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination.
98% of IAS aspirants who appear in the UPSC Preliminary Exam fail to cross even the first stage. This is the case with most aspirants even after repeated attempts.
Aspirants fail to clear the UPSC cut-off because there are gaps in their preparation. Traditional coaching is often not sufficient to equip aspirants to face the challenges as per the latest UPSC Exam requirements.
To be in the top 2% you need to think differently. You need to think like those who succeed.
Is Coaching necessary for success in UPSC CSE?
Self-study is important. However, in most cases, it may not be sufficient. Self-study needs to be complemented with the right training.
Proper training helps in all competitive fields. This will help you save time, effort, and money.

CORE Resources vs SUPPLEMENTARY Resources
There are some resources that I call ‘CORE’ resources. CORE resources will offer a greater Return on Investment (RoI) when compared to other sources.
A few examples include:
- ClearIAS Prelims cum Mains Program (PCM): 1-Year Program
- ClearIAS Prelims Test Series (PTS): 1-Year Program
- ClearIAS UPSC Previous Year Questions Re-Take Exams: 1-Year Program
If you missed the 1-Year long ClearIAS Prelims cum Mains Program (PCM), the next best option for you will be the 50-Days Online Program by ClearIAS popularly known as Prelims Marks Booster Program (PMB).
We won’t say these are ‘enough’ for you to crack UPSC CSE. Nothing is ‘enough’ with respect to UPSC CSE. But these are the first priority items that offer the maximum benefit in minimum time.
Note: You can join ClearIAS online programs at any time. Once you join, you will get instant access to previously uploaded classes/exams and automatic access to upcoming live classes/exams.
Once the CORE resources are done, you should extend your preparation to SUPPLEMENTARY resources.
Supplementary resources include:
Programs that can help you perform better on UPSC Prelims 2022 Date
If you are preparing entirely by self-study the supplementary resources which we listed above should act as your CORE resources. This is because, in such a case, you are preparing only with free resources without access to our premium features. The main drawback of entirely depending on self-study is that it is time-consuming and less efficient when compared to expert training.
So whenever possible, based on our time and financial capacity, get as much expert training from the core resources listed above. Join online classes, online mock exams, and if possible both.
A combination of self-study with smart study usually works wonders!
