Date of Announcement of Preliminary Exam Results by UPSC – The trend:

Though the time taken by UPSC for calculating IAS Prelims results was near 3 months in 2008 and 2010, it seems UPSC has turned quicker during last couple of years. UPSC has taken only 2 months and 1 week before coming up with Prelims result in 2011 and 2012. Going by the same trend, 2013 prelims result can be expected on the first week of August. Candidates should not be surprised if the results are announced much earlier say the last weeks of July as in 2012.

What next if successfuly cleared IAS Prelims?

The candidature of the successful candidates is provisional. In accordance with the Rules of the Examination, all these candidates have to apply again in the Detailed Application Form (DAF), which would be available on the website of the Union Public Service Commission www.upsc.gov.in . All the qualified candidates are advised to fill up the DAF and submit the same ONLINE for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination. The DAF will be available on the website of the Commission.
