UPSC 2020: The application process for the IAS/IPS exam has started. Apply before the last date!
To get selected for services like IAS or IPS, you need to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Exam.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications from candidates for the Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2020 from February 12, 2020.
Who can apply for the IAS Exam: Know the Eligibility Criteria
For the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service, and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. For other services, subjects of Nepal and Bhutan can also apply. Tibetan refugees and PIOs can also file their applications.
Educational Qualification
The minimum educational qualification is a degree.
The degree may be obtained via regular, private, or distance education.
Age Limit
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2020.
i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1988 and not later than 1st August 1999.
Relaxation in age limit
The upper age limit prescribed above (32 years) will be relaxable up to:
- a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe;
- a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) non-creamy layer.
- a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services Personnel.
- a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen.
- a maximum of five years in the case of Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs) and Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs).
- a maximum of 10 years in the case of differently-abled.
Notification for UPSC 2020 CSE out on February 12, 2020
UPSC released the notification for Civil Service Prelims and Indian Forest Service Prelims on February 12, 2020.

Date of UPSC 2020 CSE Preliminary Exam (Objective)
The date of UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 and IFS Prelims 2020 is May 31, 2020.
Date of UPSC 2020 CSE Main Exam (Written)
Candidates who qualify for the Preliminary Examination will be invited to appear for the Main Examination (written). There are 9 papers in the written exam, out of which 2 papers are qualifying in nature.
UPSC CSE Mains 2020 is scheduled to start on September 18, 2020.
Date of UPSC 2020-21 CSE Interview (Personality Test)
Candidates who qualify for the Main examination (written) will be summoned for the interview (personality test) which will be conducted at the UPSC building in New Delhi. The date of the UPSC Civil Services Interview for 2020-21 is expected to be in February – March 2021.

@ Kalpana – At the moment, there is no age relaxation for divorced women. However, women are encouraged to apply for UPSC CSE. No fees are charged from women candidates.

@Aswathi – UPSC allows final year students (degree) to sit for UPSC Civil Services Exam if they meet the age requirements (ie. candidate must have at least 21 years of age on 1st August of that given year when the exam is held).
PS: All candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission for taking the Civil Services (Main) Examination will be required to produce proof of passing the requisite examination along with their application for the Main Examination failing which such candidates will not be admitted to the Main Examination.

What about jammu and Kashmir residents…. As per the govt orders the five year age relaxation has been withdrawn perhaps…. Or the order is awaited…. Please help me out if I can apply… My date of birth is 10-04-88.

My date of Birth is 13/01/1989 and belongs to General category. Let me know whether I will be eligible for UPSC 2021 or Not , whereas I am eligible for UPSC 2020 that I understand. Your reply with exact reply will be helpful for me.
