UPSC Results – Civil Services Exam 2017 Final Result Declared; Durishetty Anudeep is All India Rank 1

UPSC Results - Civil Services Exam 2017 Results Published

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the final results of Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2017 – the examination for the recruitment to various services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc. Durishetty Anudeep is the all-India topper. A total of 990 candidates – 750 men and 240 women – have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various central government services.

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2017 Final Results

Out of the 1058 vacancies for which UPSC conducted the Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2017, 990 candidates are recommended in the first rank list. 68 remaining posts are to be filled from the consolidated reserve list maintained by UPSC based on the ranks in the same exam, which will be published later.

Marks of all candidates who gave Prelims, Mains or Interview will be available on the website within 15 days from the date of declaration of result.

Ranks are calculated on the basis of total marks scored in UPSC CSE Mains Exam and Personality Test.

About 10 lakh candidates had applied for the first stage in 2017 – Preliminary Exam.

Toppers of UPSC CSE 2017

  1. Durishetty Anudeep is the all India topper. He is an engineer from BITS PILANI. This was his fourth attempt.
  2. Anu Kumari secured the 2nd rank.
  3. Sachin Gupta stood third.

UPSC CSE 2017: 1058 vacancies and 10 lakh applications!

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is conducted by the UPSC annually in three stages – preliminary, mains and interviews. The civil services preliminary examination (objective test) was conducted on June 18th last year. About 9,75,000  candidates had applied for it, but only approximately 4.5 lakh appeared for the examination. Of these, 13000 were declared qualified for the Main examination (written test). The main examination was held in October 2017.

The result of the civil services main examination was declared on the Jan 10th 2018. About 2300 candidates were declared qualified for the personality test. Personality tests were held from Feb 19 to April 25.

Vacancy break-up for each category – UPSC CSE 2017

1058 candidates have been recommended for the appointment (from the two lists). The candidature of 59 recommended candidates is provisional. The vacancy break-up for each category is as follows (including provisional candidates in the rank list):

  • GENERAL- 543
  • OBC – 275
  • SC – 166
  • ST – 74
  • TOTAL = 1058

Consolidated Reserve List Break-up (names not published now)

In the consolidated reserve list, UPSC keeps the names of 132 candidates, ie. double the number of remaining vacancies (68).

Category-wise vacancies for each service – UPSC CSE 2017

The total number of seats for a general category candidate is only 543. Only 476 candidates among general category candidates are placed in the first rank list.

Details – rank, roll number and names of toppers of UPSC Civil Services Exam 2017-18 will be available in clearias.com as another post. The details are taken from the official UPSC website (upsc.gov.in).

    (275/1058)*100=25.46% OBC candidates only..where is reservation of 27%

      Out of 1058 candidates only 275 (25.46%) OBC candidate have been selected…..but the number of qualified OBC candidates should be 286 (27%) ……where is is 27% reservation for OBC????

      There is number of vacancies are 990 not 1058 then the ℅ of OBC candidates is 27.77 ℅
      Who are those .77 ℅ candidates qualified in UPSC.

      then (543/10.58) 54.84% gen students. 4.84% extra seat of reserve category is taken up by generals WHO ARE THEY?
